Privacy Policy
PlainQR · Effective date: October 21, 2026
PlainQR (“the app”) is published by the developer of PlainQR (“we”). This policy explains how the app handles your information. In short: we do not collect any data.
Scanning happens on your device
The app uses your camera only to read QR codes and barcodes. You can also pick an image from your photo library to read a code from it. Codes are decoded on your iPhone. A link is opened only when you tap Open; the website you open then has its own privacy policy.
History
Scan history is stored only on your iPhone. You can turn it off or clear it at any time in the app.
Data we collect
None. The app has no account or sign-in, shows no ads, and contains no third-party analytics, advertising or crash-reporting SDKs. It does not track you across apps or websites and does not use the advertising identifier.
Purchases
In-app purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never receive your payment details. The app checks your purchase status on your device using Apple’s StoreKit.
Information Apple provides to developers
Through App Store Connect, Apple gives developers aggregated information such as downloads, sales and app usage statistics. If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in your device settings, Apple may also provide crash reports and diagnostics. This information is provided by Apple, is not used by us to identify you, and is only available if you have agreed to share it. You can change this in Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.
Your choices
You can change camera or photo access at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security. Deleting the app removes its local data, including history, from your device.
Children’s privacy
PlainQR is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13. Because the app collects no data, no personal information about children is collected.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the effective date above. If we ever start collecting data, we will update this policy and the App Store privacy details before that change takes effect.
